Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE), functioning within the purview of Ministry of Higher Education is one of the leading government institutions in the Higher Education sector in Sri Lanka. SLIATE was established under the provisions of the act of parliament No: 29 of 1995, focusing on fostering Advanced Technological Education at a post - secondary level.
It is mandated to establish Advanced Technological Institutes (ATIs) in every province for technological and business studies. At present, SLIATE operates 11 ATIs and 05 ATI sections located all over the island to conduct the courses of Higher National Diploma level programs in the fields of Accountancy, Agriculture, Business Administration, Business Finance, Building Services Engineering, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), English, Food Technology, Information Technology, Management, Quantity Surveying and Tourism & Hospitality Management.
During the period of review, it is noticed that there is a considerable progress of the activities in accordance with the corporate plan of year 2013 to 2018 and this was not possible without the fullest cooperation rendered by each and every layer of SLIATE staff and students. Further, these activities were implemented through the identified strategies and this progress has been indicated in the relevant chapters of the annual report.
