Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE) is recognized as a leading government educational Institution which functions under the purview of the Ministry of Higher Education & Highways in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE) was established under the provisions of the act of parliament No: 29 of 1995 and it focuses on the Advanced Technological Education at post-secondary level.
Currently, there are 11 Advanced Technological Institutes (ATII) and 06 Advanced Technological Institute Sections functioning under the Sri Lanka Institute of Advanced Technological Education (SLIATE). The island wide network of SLIATE is covering all the provinces of Sri Lanka. At present, SLIATE produces the Higher National Diploma holders in 14 different fields including; Accountancy, Agriculture, Business Administration, Business Finance, Building Services Engineering, Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), English, Food Technology, Information Technology, Management, Quantity Surveying, Tourism and Hospitality Management. The Diploma Holders contribute to the development of National and International economy in different sectors comprising of Agriculture, Education, Industry and Service.
In the year 2014, there is a remarkable progress in the physical and human resource development of the institute. Infrastructure facilities of the institutes, staff development programs and the employability of the Diploma Holders have achieved higher rates comparatively to the previous years. During the period of review, it was noticed that there was a considerable advancement in all the activities in accordance with the corporate plan of the year 2014. This progress can be attributed to the commitment and sacrifice of all the stakeholders mainly the staff members and the students of SLIATE. All the proposed strategies have been implemented to uplift the quality and the image of SLIATE. The detail information can be obtained in the separate chapters of this annual report.
